The Reach Oxford Scholarship funds a full undergraduate degree at the University of Oxford, covering course fees, living costs and one return flight a year, for new students from low-income countries who cannot study in the UK for financial reasons. Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Yemen and Palestine are among the eligible countries; the GCC states are not. You must apply to Oxford through UCAS by 15 October 2026; the scholarship deadline is 26 January 2027.

How to apply

  1. Apply to Oxford through UCAS by 6pm (UK time) on 15 October 2026 for 2027 entry; the scholarship cannot be considered without an admission application
  2. Complete any admissions test and interviews required by your course in the normal Oxford admissions cycle
  3. In January 2027, when Oxford publishes the 2027 application details on the scholarship page, submit the Reach Oxford application by the 26 January 2027 deadline
  4. Selection takes place in April 2027; applicants are informed of the outcome by the end of May 2027

The Reach Oxford Scholarship is the University of Oxford’s award for undergraduates from low-income countries who, for political or financial reasons, or because educational facilities do not exist, cannot study for a degree in their own country. It covers course fees for the full degree, a grant for living costs and one return air fare per year, for three or four years depending on the course. Oxford makes around two to three awards per year.

Who is eligible: nationals of the countries on the OECD Development Assistance Committee list that Oxford publishes on the scholarship page. From the Arab world the list includes Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and Yemen. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman do not appear on it. The scholarship is for new undergraduate entrants only, in any subject except medicine. Oxford states that the scheme is only suitable for candidates who have received an offer and who are of the highest academic ability, that financial need and social commitment are considered, and that applicants should intend to return to their home country after their studies.

The order of steps matters:
1. Admission first. Oxford states that students must apply for admission to the University before they can be considered for a Reach Oxford Scholarship. The UCAS deadline for Oxford is 6pm UK time on 15 October 2026 for 2027 entry, and Oxford says this must be strictly adhered to. Admissions tests and interviews follow in the normal cycle.
2. Scholarship application second. Applications for 2026 entry are closed. Oxford will publish the 2027 application details on the scholarship page in January 2027, and the scholarship deadline is 26 January 2027.
3. Selection in April 2027; applicants are informed of the outcome by the end of May 2027.

What to do now: if you are in your final school year in an eligible country and expect top grades, prepare and submit the UCAS application before 15 October 2026. Without an Oxford offer there is no route to this scholarship, so treat the October date as the real deadline and the January date as the second step. Check your course page on ox.ac.uk for its admissions test, since registration for tests has its own dates in the autumn.
