This Editorial Policy explains how ScholarMENA selects, verifies, writes, updates and corrects scholarship listings, and how we keep our editorial decisions independent from advertising.
Who is responsible
Listings are produced by the ScholarMENA Editorial Team, led by our Editor-in-Chief, who is accountable for what we publish.
What we select
We list real scholarships from anywhere in the world that applicants from the GCC and the Arab world can realistically apply for: bachelor’s, master’s and PhD scholarships, postdoctoral positions and fellowships, and short programs. A scholarship is only eligible for a listing if we can trace it to an official page published by the provider. If we cannot find that page, we do not publish.
Our verification standard
Our publishing system will not publish a record unless all four of these are true:
- A human editor has opened the official application URL.
- The deadline was read on the official source, or the record is marked as rolling because the provider accepts applications all year.
- Eligibility and benefits were taken from the official source.
- A last-verified date and the name of the verifying editor are recorded.
What every record shows
- A link to the official source.
- The date it was last verified.
- Its status: open, expiring soon or closed.
How we write
We write each record from the official source and organise it into the same fields every time: who can apply, what the scholarship covers, what you need to submit, how to apply and the deadline. We use plain language, point out conditions that matter for applicants from the Arab world, and do not copy the provider’s text wholesale. We always name and link the source.
Use of AI
AI tools may help us draft and translate text. They are not a source of facts. Every published record is verified against the official source and approved by a human editor, and this applies equally to our English and Arabic pages.
Updates and expired listings
Deadlines are checked daily. When a deadline passes, the record’s status changes to closed automatically. Expired listings are not deleted: they stay online, marked “Closed”, as a reference for applicants preparing for the next cycle. When a provider changes the details of an open scholarship, we update the record and its last-verified date.
Corrections
If you find an error, email [email protected] with the URL of our page and, if possible, a link to the official source showing the correct information. We check the source, then fix the page or add a note on the page explaining the correction.
Independence
ScholarMENA is funded by advertising, and in future may include affiliate links and sponsored listings. Advertising is marked “Advertisement”, and any affiliate link or sponsored listing will be labelled. Advertisers and sponsors never influence which scholarships we list or how they are verified. We are not affiliated with the providers we list unless a page states otherwise.
