TU Delft funds a small number of master’s students each year through the legacy of Justus and Louise van Effen. TU Delft says it offers 16 full scholarships from the foundation, roughly two per faculty, and that it receives far more applications than it can fund.
What it covers: full tuition fees at the statutory or institutional rate that applies to your nationality, and a contribution to living expenses. TU Delft does not publish the living amount. The award continues into the second year only if you complete at least 48 of 60 ECTS in year one, and it does not extend beyond two years. You cannot hold another scholarship at the same time.
Who can apply: excellent international applicants admitted, or conditionally admitted, to a two-year regular MSc (International Joint Education Programmes are excluded). As an indication, TU Delft means the top 10% of graduates of a relevant previous programme; you do not need to prove your rank. No nationality list or exclusion is published, so applicants from the GCC and the Arab world can apply.
When to apply: 1 December 2026 at 23:59 CET. In our region that falls after midnight: 01:59 on 2 December in Riyadh, Doha, Kuwait and Manama, 00:59 in Cairo and 02:59 in the UAE and Oman. Missing the deadline means the scholarship application is not reviewed.
What to prepare:
1. A complete MSc application that meets the programme’s admission requirements.
2. The Scholarship Application Form.
3. One reference letter; if you have two, merge them into one PDF.
4. Your English test certificate, uploaded before the deadline even if the programme would accept it later, unless you are exempt.
Timeline: scholarship deadline 1 December 2026; awards announced by email by the end of March 2027; studies start in September 2027.
Practical notes for applicants from our region: TU Delft asks every scholarship applicant to upload the English certificate before 1 December, so a test result that arrives late blocks the scholarship even if the MSc application itself is complete. TU Delft also advises checking its tuition and cost pages before you commit to a two-year programme.
Our advice: if you have not taken IELTS or TOEFL yet, book a test date that gives results before the end of November.
