The Warwick Postgraduate Research Scholarships 2027 are the University of Warwick’s main funding competition for doctoral students starting in October 2027. The university offers up to 80 scholarships across six streams. For applicants from outside the UK, the relevant stream is the Faculty Chancellor’s scholarships, with up to 30 awards, because it is open to applicants of any nationality or fee status. The other streams are Interdisciplinary Chancellor’s (up to 12), AHRC Doctoral (up to 3), Doctoral Access Pathway (up to 3), Doctoral Access Sanctuary (up to 2) and China Scholarship Council (up to 30).
What a Faculty Chancellor’s scholarship pays: full payment of your academic fees, a tax-free maintenance stipend at the UKRI rate for 3.5 years, a £5,000 Research Training and Support Grant, and paid leave for family and medical reasons.
Who can apply: you must be applying for an eligible research course at Warwick that begins in October 2027, meaning a PhD, MPhil/PhD, EngD, or the PhD stage of a combined course such as a 1+3 or 2+4. You must be starting in the 2027/28 academic year; the scholarship cannot be deferred.
The process has two applications and three dates, so plan them in order:
1. Course application, deadline 7 December 2026. Submit your PhD application to Warwick first. It produces the applicant ID you need for the scholarship form.
2. Scholarship application, deadline 10 December 2026. Scholarship applications open on 5 October 2026. Register your account on Warwick’s scholarship system and submit the form with the supporting documents.
3. References, deadline 21 December 2026. Your referees must submit by this date, so give them your details well before the December deadlines.
Offers are released on 5 March 2027.
Before applying, read the assessment criteria the Doctoral College publishes for the competition; the scholarship is judged on the application documents, so the research proposal and the supporting statements carry the decision. If you are applying from the GCC or elsewhere in the Arab world, note that the funding covers the full international fee, so there is no fee gap to finance, and that the stipend rate is set by UKRI each year rather than by Warwick.
